la maison de la perle  ResourcesMaison de la Perle is a public service organization operating in the fields of industry and commerce. It is under the auspices of the Ministry for Pearl Farming, which confers on it both neutrality and legitimacy. This official status enables it to form privileged partnerships with French and foreign institutions for the benefit of all its missions and especially the overall promotion of the Tahitian Pearl.

In order to accomplish its missions, the organization benefits from the following human and financial resources:

Human resources

The Director: forms strategy, sets out plans and co-ordinates the management of the organization in Polynesia and abroad.
The Secretary: organizes the reception and secretarial services of the organization
The Accountant: organizes all accountancy matters.
The Head of the Promotion Department: devises, co-ordinates and plans the organization’s promotion strategies.
The Manager of Market Research and Public Relations: develops and puts into effect the organization’s marketing strategy.
The Head of the Selection and Classification Department: supervises the processes of grading, classification, labeling and evaluation of pearl products, interfaces with the pearl farmers and local and international traders.
The Selection Officer: handles the processes of grading, classification, labeling and evaluation of pearl products.

Financial resources:

Budget for 2010: 311 million francs CFP

- 193 millions from the DGDE, funding allocated to the promotion of French Polynesia;
- 120 millions from the budget of Polynesia, though not via the export tax (DSPE) which is levied according to the budget of Polynesia.
