actualites  Japan special dayThe City of Papeete and the SOS Japan association held Sunday, April 3 Japan Special Day from 13pm to 18pm on Papeete city. The population has benefited from initiations and demonstrations of martial arts, massage, but also contemplate the art of calligraphy, that of folding origami, or learn more about making sushi. A stand “kamishibai” also came to add to this great program!

For this edition, exceptionally, some activities were paying, including sports marathons. For other events, which remained free, ballot boxes were arranged to collect donations.

For the “Maison de la Perle”, this day was an opportunity to inform the public about the historical role played by Japan in the culture of the Tahitian pearl at both its production and its marketing and that from its inception in Polynesia’s pearl industry that has become in a very short time one of the pillars of our economy.

The objective of this day was to mark the support of French Polynesia for the Japanese community living in Polynesia but especially to those who lived through the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011.

The SOS Japan association, which manages the collection of donations, will soon communicate the collection results and for those who didn’t contribute, they can still make a donation by sending their contributions to :
